Remote Reefs of Belize
February 17 - February 25, 2001
Last February, one of our groups enjoyed a week on Blackbird Caye resort and mainland Belize. This page is a photo-impression of some of the activities: reef- and mangrove-snorkeling and excursions to the Blue Hole, the community babboon sanctuary and the Belize zoo.

Reef snorkeling offers a unique opportunity to see corals, sea fans and fish.

Go with the flow: drift-snorkeling through a mangrove channel during an incoming tide is one of the most relaxing ways to enjoy marine life in this unique environment.

One of the highlights of the program is an excursion to the famous Blue Hole. With a diameter of almost 1000 feet, this geological features offers excellent snorkeling on the shallow rim.

A visit to Lighthouse Reef includes an opportunity to see breeding boobies and frigate birds.

Nobody opted to go nightsnorkeling because of some inquisitive crocodiles that paid a visit to the resort every evening.
